Hank (IVDD)'s Story

Hank is a nearly 7 year old longhair dachshund. He is a small standard at 18 pounds and incredibly sweet. He has had a recent dental, he is neutered, vaccinated and chipped.

He is permanently paralyzed but has custom wheels he loves to walk and explore in. This boy is so good with kids, dogs and cats and is very paternal to the puppy in his foster home. He both plays with, grooms and cuddles the puppy. As he is paralyzed, he does require regular bladder expression 3-4 times a day and is on a daily med to relax his bladder wall and make him easier to express.

This boy is so very special and we won't adopt him to just anyone but he is so worth it. He bonds very closely with his people and lives to cuddle and stare deep in your eyes. He does demand scratches and will hop around the house after you when not in his wheels.

Please note that for most of our dogs we are require a home and a fenced yard. To be considered for Hank, please apply on our website:

https://www.portlanddachshundrescue.org/adoptionform

OUR CRITERIA There's nothing better than a successful match. We like to explain the process of finding the right rescue dog as being similar to online dating: You will want to check our site often to see who is new, read each bio and reach out if you think they might have found someone special. Our adoption team is highly skilled at helping you find a dog with the right personality that will fit your family and lifestyle. Occasionally, we receive multiple promising applications for a dog and ultimately match the dog with the home where we think they will do best. We are committed to helping you find a dog even if you don't "match" on your first attempt. We would love nothing more than to help you find the forever dog of your dreams. Although we like to tailor each match, we do have some basic criteria we look with respect to adoptive homes: *Homes should be non-smoking *Have a securely fenced yard *Ability to commit to yearly dentals and shots for the pet *Willingness to purchase ramps and pet stairs to safeguard the dog's back
