Hank Hickory's Story
Our handsome Hank is a sweet, gentle boy who is learning how to be a "house dog" for the very first time. After spending the first 10 months abandoned and feral in Tennessee, he and 4 littermates were rescued and taken to a shelter where volunteers worked hard to help them overcome many fears. After a few months, he'd made good progress and his loving nature assured them he was ready for a foster home.

Now 18 months old, he's making amazing progress adapting to domestic life. His latest milestone - instead of cringing with tail tucked when lifted into a car, he has decided that "going for a ride" results in some of the best things the world has to offer....parks, people and treats. When it's time to go, he beats all the other dogs to the front door!

Hank is curious-but-cautious, affectionate, and eager to trust. He's a very quick learner, loves his crate, chooses to "go" outdoors, and enjoys quiet affection from people he feels safe with. We will be exposing him to new people, kiddoes and cats as we figure out which types of home environments will help him grow.

I can see the "happy-go-lucky" boy emerging a little more every day. Watching him discover comfort, safety, and love has been incredibly rewarding, and he will thrive with patient adopters who understand trust takes time. Their reward will be a happy, gentle and devoted companion for life.

**Dog breeds listed are best guesses from veterinary professionals, they are never a guarantee. www.brownpawsrescue.com.
