Hank's Story
Hank is a very happy to be with people. He greets us enthusiastically, wagging his tail with a big grin on his face. He loves to be in the same room with us and wants to try to sit in our laps at any opportunity. He is very motivated by treats and affection/praise. We have started working on “stay”and “come” and have seen some improvements in just a few days. We had a tutor come over and, after the initial excitement (wagging tail, a bit of trying to be right in her space), he calmed down and did very well with her here at the house. I can see him being a really great pet to someone that can provide him structure and training.

We have had some instances of resource guarding. He is very motivated to give the ball or other item up when given a treat. We have even had some success asking him to “drop” without a treat since starting to work on this.

He loves to go on walks, but pulls very hard on the leash. He needs a collar or harness that he can't escape from as he will throw his whole body around and try to pull you when he sees another dog or cat. He is super happy to crash for a while after a walk. Although very strong, he seems like a medium energy dog for a Weimaraner. He's very happy to be a couch potato as long as he gets some exercise during the day, too.

He would do very well in a house with older kids or even younger kids if they can understand that there are rules about how to approach/interact with Hank. He gets very excited and wants to play too roughly.

Has not had a lot of exposure to other dogs but does get along with Chase who is another neutered male in rescue.
