Hank's Story

Meet Handsome Hank!

Some dogs demand attention. Hank earns it.

Estimated to be over 7 years old and weighing about 64 pounds, Hank is a handsome Boxer/Lab mix who has reached that wonderful stage of life where he knows what matters most: good company, a comfortable place to relax, and people to love.

Hank was adopted from Canine Collective years ago and enjoyed life in a home with his canine companion, Rowdy. Unfortunately, when his family fell on hard times and lost their home, both dogs found themselves back in rescue through no fault of their own. Rowdy has since found his happy ending, and now it's Hank's turn.

This easygoing guy is happiest spending time with his people. He enjoys car rides, leisurely walks, relaxing in the sunshine, and simply being part of everyday life. Hank rarely barks, walks nicely on leash, and has excellent manners both at home and out in public. While Hank appreciates a good nap, he hasn't forgotten how to have fun. He loves splashing around in a kiddie pool on warm days, enjoys chasing a tennis ball, and still gets the occasional burst of goofy enthusiasm that reminds everyone he's young at heart.

Hank has spent years successfully living with and socializing around other dogs. He has attended numerous adoption events, lived with another dog in his previous home, and is currently doing well staying with a volunteer who has dogs of his own. While future introductions should always be handled thoughtfully, Hank has generally shown himself to be a social and dog-friendly companion. When meeting new people, Hank can be a little reserved at first, especially with men. Give him a little time, a few treats, and some patience, and you'll quickly see his softer side. Once he trusts you, you'll be rewarded with happy wiggles, goofy smiles, and unwavering loyalty. Because Hank enjoys a calmer lifestyle, he would likely do best in a home with adults or older, respectful children. He does have a strong prey drive toward wildlife such as rabbits and birds, so a home without small animals would be best.

Hank isn't looking for endless adventure or constant excitement. He's looking for what he once had-a family to love, a place to belong, and a soft spot to rest at the end of the day. If you've been searching for a loyal companion who still enjoys life's simple pleasures, Handsome Hank may be the perfect addition to your family. Apply today at caninecollective.org.
