Hank's Story

Hank is a 4-year-old black Labrador Retriever weighing about 70 lbs, and he’s ready to find his forever family. This handsome boy will be neutered soon through our program.

Hank is full of life and personality. His biggest quirk is his enthusiasm when meeting new people—he gets very excited, can be a bit nosey, and may jump up to say hello. He’s never shown any aggression, just a lot of energy that can be overwhelming at first. With a little guidance and consistency, he settles in nicely.

He’s wonderful with other dogs and does well with cats, making him a great fit for a multi-pet home. While he doesn’t have much experience with young children, he would do best in a home with older kids who can handle his size and energy.

Hank walks beautifully on a leash with someone he knows and trusts. With new handlers, he may pull at first, but he learns quickly and improves quickly with patience. He was crate trained as a puppy and, while he doesn’t spend much time in one now, he’s proven to be trustworthy at home and can be left alone for 10+ hours.

Hank is currently being fostered in Lambertville, NJ, and is looking for a family who will embrace his fun-loving spirit while continuing to reinforce his manners.

If you’re interested in giving Hank the loving home he deserves, or if you have any questions, please reach out to info@rootrescue.org

Root Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process Application Review: Potential adopters submit an adoption application. We carefully review it to ensure the home can meet the needs of both the dog or cat and the family. Virtual Meeting & Home Check: We set up a virtual meeting where we meet all family members who will interact with the new pet. During this step, we ask questions, review the home environment, and allow the family to meet the pet virtually. In-Person Meet & Greet: We conduct an in-person visit with all family members and current pets (if any). This ensures the dog or cat is comfortable with the family, and that any existing pets are compatible with the new addition. Final Decision & Placement: After assessing the interactions and overall fit, we make a final adoption decision. If approved, the new pet goes to their forever home.
