MEET HANK! <br/><br/>Hi, I'm Hank! I'm a 4-year-old Schnauzer-Yorkie mix, weighing in at 11.8 pounds - but don't let my small size fool you because I have a BIG personality!<br/><br/>I'm handsome, affectionate, playful, and VERY high-energy! I love toys, playing, and keeping busy.<br/><br/>I do well with other dogs, but I have a very dominant, confident personality and can be a lot for some dogs to handle. I love chasing and playing with my canine friends, and when I get excited, I can be quite vocal - sometimes barking right up in another dog's face. I would do best with a submissive, tolerant dog who is comfortable with a confident little guy like me and won't be bothered by my busy personality.<br/><br/>I also tend to resource guard toys. However, I'm more of a vocalizer than an aggressor when I'm upset about something. My future family should be comfortable managing resources appropriately and continuing to work with me on sharing and appropriate interactions.<br/><br/> How am I with kids?<br/>I do well with my foster family's kids, who are 4 and 5 years old and have a good understanding of how to appropriately interact with dogs. Because I am energetic and can be vocal and possessive over toys, I would do best with children who understand dog boundaries and with appropriate supervision.<br/><br/> How am I in a crate?<br/>I actually do really well in my crate! I don't potty in my crate overnight and settle down nicely once I'm in bed. I may bark a little at first to protest bedtime because, let's be honest, I have opinions - but I settle down and go to sleep.<br/><br/>I can also be a little cautious when meeting new people. I need some time and space to decide that you're okay. But once I trust you - and especially once you pick me up - I turn into a total sweetheart and affectionate little lovebug! <br/><br/> My ideal home:<br/> Single-family home - no apartments<br/> A patient person who will give me time to settle in<br/> Someone who can keep up with a high-energy little dog<br/> Preferably an only-dog home, or a home with a submissive, tolerant canine companion<br/> Dog-savvy children who understand boundaries<br/> Someone willing to appropriately manage my toy/resource guarding<br/> A consistent routine and continued work on house training<br/> Someone willing to help me continue learning appropriate ways to interact with other dogs<br/><br/>The good stuff? I'm already neutered and have had my full dental completed! <br/><br/>I'm currently in a foster home in Gulfport, MS, where my foster family is getting to know all the things that make me Hank.<br/><br/>I may not be the dog for everyone - and that's okay!
