Hank's Story

Meet Hank
Hank is a confident, outgoing, and playful young Rottweiler cross, estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old. Rottweilers are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and strong connection to their people, and Hank embodies those traits with his enthusiastic personality and eagerness to engage. He came to us as a stray, so we don’t have details about his past, but during his time in care he has consistently shown himself to be social, playful, and full of life. Hank clearly enjoys learning and working with people, he already knows several commands including sit, down, spin, heel, and shake, and he takes pride in showing them off. One of Hank’s standout qualities is how lovely he is on walks; he walks nicely without pulling and listens well to verbal cues, making outings with him enjoyable and manageable.

Training & Support
Hank is a smart and motivated dog who will continue to thrive with positive, reward based training. He has shown some resource guarding around food bowls, so his future home will need to be committed to ongoing training and thoughtful management in this area. With clear boundaries, consistency, and trust building techniques, Hank has the potential to make great progress. His existing training foundation and willingness to listen make him a great candidate for continued learning.

Ideal Home
Hank would do best in a dog experienced adult only home. Due to his food related resource guarding, a household without other dogs or children will help set him up for success and reduce stress for everyone involved. He would thrive in a home that enjoys an active lifestyle and can provide him with regular exercise, structure, and mental engagement. Hank is energetic and playful, but he also values guidance and routine. Hank is a fun loving companion who will brings both joy and personality to his forever home.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ready to Apply?

If you would like to meet Hank, please download an application from our website at:

vancouver.ca/adoption-form

Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca

If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes.
Children: 16+
Cats: Unknown
Dogs: Yes but not in the home
Training Needs: Resource guarding
Adoption Fee: $391

If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence.

For more information on our adoption process, go to vancouver.ca/adopt
