Alternative Humane Society of Whatcom County's Adoption Policy
AHS does not do same-day adoptions. We provide a form called a “Statement of Interest” for potential adopters to fill out. When completed, this form is reviewed by an AHS volunteer (the animal’s Case Manager) who will contact any potential adopter with any additional questions and arrange a meeting if it looks like a good match. The potential adopter usually hears back from a volunteer within 1-2 weeks. The case manager will only be contacting SOI that our might be a good fit and will arrange a meet and greet. Adoption fees for DOGS are: Puppies (up to age 18 months): $425 (plus $200spay/neuter deposit for puppies that are not spayed or neutered at time of adoption)Cash only Adults (18 months - 8 years old): $350 Seniors (8 years and up): $225 Adoption fees for CATS are: Kittens (up to 6 months): $200 Young Adult cats (7 months -3 years) $175 Adult cats (4-7 years): $150 Senior Cats (8+ years) $100 Adoption fees include: Basic shots, spay/neuter, and microchip on dogs and cats (except puppies under 6 months of age).
