Adopter must be able to provide ongoing veterinary care for his MVD, including medications and supplements.

Hank recently came to us from a breeding facility in northern Utah. Hank came to us severely neglected, he is deaf and had severe ear infections, it’s likely chronic ear infections is what caused his deafness. He also has a severe urinary tract infection, severe dental disease and untreated mitral valve disease. He was matted and filthy but from the beginning showed a loving, happy personality, despite how awful he had to be feeling. He is an average size cavalier at 19 lbs.

Hank saw the vet and was diagnosed with a grade 4 heart murmur and enlarged heart. He has had an echocardiogram with the cardiologist at AVC, and was put on medication and cleared for a much needed dental and neuter which he came through with flying colors.

Hank takes one medication for his heart, pimobendan, which can be compounded locally at MFV Pharmacy and runs about $60 for 2 months. He should also take a supplement like Ubiquinol to help support his heart. It can be found on Amazon and runs about $70 for 2 months worth.

Hank is deaf and has been working on training with a remote vibrating collar. He is doing well on house training but does occasionally still try to mark, but this is getting much better after his neuter as time goes on. It would be best to use a belly band until he’s used to his new surroundings and home. He does like to dart out of doors so his forever home will have to be diligent about leaving doors open and/or have a gate system to keep him from being able to door dart.

Hank is a sweet, mellow boy who just wants to be in a lap all the time. He is happiest when snuggled up with his person. He likes to spend time outside sniffing and exploring. He’s great with other dogs but doesn’t want to play so would do best with other mellow dogs. He would also do ok as an only dog as long as someone is home much of the time.

A home with older or no kids is preferred as he isn’t a playful dog. He’s a sweet boy but he isn’t going to play with kids.

If you are interested in applying to adopt Hank you can download our application at the link below or email for one at cavaliercrazyrescue@gmail.com

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0mglwmjvw7aj2gutrjdif/CCR-Combined-App_-Fillable-Form.pdf?rlkey=iy9kfcovxboemmx7ih7s5rqje&st=e02xskxn&dl=0
