Hammy's Story

Yeah, it's me. Hammy. The name is cute, the vibe is questionable, and the energy level lands somewhere between "gentle giant" and "professional backyard tornado."

I'm a 1.5-year-old Old English Sheepdog mix weighing in at a solid 79 lbs of fluff, enthusiasm, and absolutely zero understanding of personal space. I am very active, very energetic, and very committed to making every day feel like an event. If there is movement, I am involved. If there is excitement, I am leading it.

Now don't get me wrong, I am also a very sweet boy. I love people, I love attention, and one of my absolute favorite things in the world is water. Puddles, hoses, tubs, anything wet, I am there. If it involves splashing, I consider it my personal invitation.

I am currently in a training program because, let's be honest, I've got big feelings and even bigger energy. I love learning, I try hard, and I actually enjoy having a job to do. I just sometimes forget that I am built like a fluffy wrecking ball with opinions.

I also really enjoy other dogs. I like being social and playing, but I can be a bit of a rough player. I do best with dogs who can match my energy and understand my play style. A calm, delicate friend might not fully appreciate my "zoom first, think later" approach to life. Cats are unknown territory for me, and with my energy level, a no-cat home is probably the safest choice for now. I am still working on my manners and impulse control, and I have a lot going on.

Because of my size and enthusiasm, I would do best with kids over 11 as I need people who are ready for my level of energy and training needs.

At the end of the day, I am a big-hearted, high-energy, water-loving goofball who is still learning how to channel all of this into the best version of myself. With the right person, I am going to be loyal, hilarious, and a whole lot of fun!

My adoption fee is $295 and I'm neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Apply to meet Hammy today!

The Asher House's Adoption Policy
The Asher House currently focuses on adoptions within Oregon, Washington, and Idaho so that we can provide post-adoption support to our adopters and animals. If you live in one of these three states and see a dog you’re interested in, please complete our adoption application. As part of our adoption process, we ask for two references and conduct a video home check. If we believe one of our animals could be a good match for you, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet for everyone in your household, including your current dog(s). This gives everyone an opportunity to meet and helps us determine together whether the adoption is the right fit. Our goal is always to create safe, loving, and successful lifelong matches for our animals and their adopters. All of our adoptable animals are on our website www.theasherhouse.com.
