“Come on! Let’s go for a walk!” ...and that’s when it happens...tail-wagging joy as you affix the leash to the collar and and head out the door. Well, not so for our handsome youngster, Hamlet. He sees a leash and retreats in fear, his body shaking uncontrollably. Eventually, he’ll attack the leash. Never the human. Just the leash. Why he is so afraid of leashes we don’t know. We do know that his owner died, and he landed in the shelter where he stayed for over a month. We also know he is a sweet, gentle soul who wants desperately to love and be loved. He truly enjoys being petted from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, a tail that begins wagging ever so slightly as we enter his kennel. Hamlet needs time, patience, and love for his confidence to grow and his fear to subside. He would do best in a home that is calm and predictable. A house with a yard is preferable since he’ll be learning that a leash opens doors to joyful, not frightening, experiences. Hamlet is neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccines. So, who out there is ready to show Hamlet the happy world that awaits him?
