Hamilton 's Story

Meet Hamilton! This 5 month old Frenchie is the definition of a resilient soul. Hamilton came into our rescue with significant medical needs, and he has been receiving the specialized support and round the clock care he requires to thrive.

Hamilton was born with a congenital cleft palate (hard and soft). Because of this, he has been on a specialized care journey since he was just three weeks old. His foster mom has been by his side every step of the way, providing dedicated nursing and tube feedings to keep him safe from respiratory distress.

Personality: Hamilton is a total social butterfly! He absolutely loves other dogs and thrives in the company of his furry friends. When he isn't playing, he is a professional level snuggler; he lives for cuddles and wants nothing more than to be tucked right up against his person. He is a happy, tail wagging puppy who is ready to take on the world.

Medical Status: Hamilton is currently on a Medical Hold. He requires a specialized surgery to repair his cleft palate, which will prevent him from aspirating and allow him to eat safely. He has suffered episodes of turning blue (cyanosis) and requires a foster environment that understands his need for immediate medical intervention until his surgery is complete. We are currently working with specialists to get him this life-saving surgery he needs.as

Ideal Home: Hamilton isn't quite ready to go home yet, but he is looking for a forever family that understands the Frenchie life and is prepared to support him through his post-op recovery. He is social, sweet, and incredibly brave.

DASH Dogs And Second Homes's Adoption Policy
DASH Dogs And Second Homes is a Community-Based Rescue & Adoption Organization in Gary Indiana. We work directly with Gary Animal Control to help dogs find safety and a second chance. Some of our dogs are already in foster care, where they are learning routines, getting socialized, and waiting for their forever homes. Others are still at Gary Animal Control, hoping for either a foster home or an adoptive family. We list these dogs through DASH so they have the best chance at placement. All adopters are required to complete an application, provide references, and participate in a meet and greet to ensure the right match for both the dog and the family. Our mission is to give every dog a safe path from animal control to home — whether that starts in foster care or directly from animal control.
