Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS)'s Adoption Policy
Most cats may be adopted for a fee of $90 which includes spay/neuter, rabies and FVRCP vaccines, microchipping, FeLV/FIV test for cat over the age of 1. Most dogs over 9 months old may be adopted for a fee of $175. Most puppies under 9 months may be adopted for a fee of $250. Most senior dogs may be adopted for a fee of $150. Dog and Seniors adoption fees include neuter/spay, rabies and distemper vaccines, microchipping, heartworm test, and deworming. Puppies include same as dogs and seniors except for heartworm test. That is done at age of 1. Occasionally, an animal’s adoption fee may differ from the fees listed due to extenuating circumstances. Step 1: We encourage you to meet our animals in person to get to know them, or to contact us to learn more about the animal(s) you are interested in. Step 2: Once you have decided on a pet, submit an adoption application via our website (https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POW/Dog). We will then verify information and contact references. Step 3: We will contact you once we've finished processing your application. Step 4: Fill out an adoption contract in person during counseling with one of our adoption coordinators on adoption day. Step 5: Pay adoption fee. Step 6: Take your new furry family member home!
