Gypsy (Gigi)'s Story

Gypsy (nicknamed Gigi by her fosters) is a sweet, curious little girl who is gaining confidence every day. Once she feels comfortable, her silly and playful personality really starts to shine! She loves nesting in blankets, burying things under them, and dancing on her back paws when she gets excited. Shes also a little shadow around the house and loves following her chosen person from room to room.

Gigi is a sensitive girl who can be shy in new or busy environments, but she is becoming more confident with each new experience. She has done wonderfully on adventures to the beach and the store. She is also fantastic in the car, happily settling on a seat or passengers lap for a nap, and is comfortable travelling in her crate.

She is doing very well on leash and enjoys walks, although she can be tentative when it is busy. Children make her particularly nervous, so a quiet, child-free home would be ideal. Gigi enjoys other dogs and does especially well with calm canine companions. Having another dog around has really helped her feel safe and supported. She can be frightened by very rambunctious dogs or by dogs that bark a lot.

Gigi is working on her housetraining and would benefit from a home with a quiet yard, as busy areas or having people nearby can make it difficult for her to feel comfortable enough to do her business outside. She will likely feel more comfortable using pee pads at the start!

She goes into her crate easily and stays quiet all night! She is still learning that being alone is okay, and she may whine or bark when left alone. She does better when she has another dog with her.

Gigi is wonderful for grooming and has beautifully soft, silky fur. She tends to be more comfortable with women, but is curious about men and will approach to lick their hands once she knows they are safe. However, she does have a clear preference!

Gigi is looking for a patient and loving home where she can continue building her confidence at her own pace. She has already come so far in her foster home, and every day we see more of her sweet and silly personality. She is a fantastic little girl who is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place!

Gigis adoption fee is $850, which includes spay, microchip, vaccines, heartworm test, heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and complete vet check. Her veterinarian has recommended a dental cleaning, but it is not urgent, and she is currently eating an oral-care food to support healthy teeth and gums.

If you are interested in adopting Gigi, please fill out our adoption application at www.helpingpawsrescue.ca.

Please visit our website https://www.helpingpawsrescue.ca to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.
