Gypsy's Story
*Update: Gypsy left March 20th for a Slumber Party!
Gorgeous Gypsy arrived at NCCR on 12/5/25, surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her. She is an approximately 3 ½ year old spayed female Australian Shepherd. Gypsy is house trained and knows some basic commands. She is a highly intelligent working breed who will need plenty of daily activity, both physical and mental, to keep her happy. Gypsy loves to play ball with the volunteers and would probably enjoy agility training. She would prefer a home without young children. Gypsy gets along with some other dogs, but has not met many dogs in her life so far.
*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party Program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org.
*After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them.

NYS Registration #RR028
Date of Arrival: December 5, 2025
Breed(s): Australian Shepherd & Border Collie
Age: 3 & 1/2 years old
Health info: Spayed, vaccinated, & microchipped
