Gus (fka Lake R)'s Story

*GOOFY, LOVING & READY TO FIND MY FOREVER PLAYMATE!*

Hi everyone, I'm Gus!

I'm a goofy, affectionate boy who may be a little cautious when we first meet, but give me a little time and you'll discover just how much love I have to give. It doesn't take me long to trust my people, and once I do, I'm loving, playful and eager to please.

I'm currently living in a foster home with a female Pyr, and having a canine sister has been pretty great! We share toys, play together and enjoy being buddies. In fact, I'm a pretty caring guy. One night my foster sister started whimpering in her sleep, and I hurried across the room to check on her. I sniffed her head and gave her ear a little lick just to make sure she was okay. What can I say? I look out for my girls.

I'm still a young guy with plenty of playful energy. I love walks, running, playing and a good game of chase or wrestling with my foster sister. Once were back inside, though, I know how to switch into couch-potato mode. When I'm feeling especially silly, Ill stretch out as long as I possibly can, roll and twist around on my back, and paw at my people until they get the message: Gus needs attention!

I'm a smart boy, too! I know Sit, Down and Come, and I respond well to correction. I'm leash-trained, although I'm still working on my heeling because sometimes there are just so many interesting things to investigate! I'm especially curious about birds, squirrels, bugs and lizards. I've come a long way on my walks and have become much more comfortable and confident with the world around me.

I'm also house-trained and have learned how to tell my foster family when I need to go outside. Ill whine a little, head toward the door and then paw or bark to make sure they get the message. I'm crate-trained, too, and sleep in my crate at night and stay there when my foster family leaves the house.

I'm not food or toy possessive, and I share toys nicely with my foster sister. I especially love bones, squeaky toys and peanut butter! Belly rubs and ear rubs are pretty high on my list, too.

I can be cautious around new people, but I warm up fairly quickly when given a chance to feel comfortable. Once I know you're one of my people, you'll see my affectionate, playful and protective side come out.

My ideal forever home would give this young guy some room to run and play and continue helping me learn and grow. Id especially love having a playful female canine companion who enjoys chase, wrestling and having fun as much as I do.

More than anything, I'm looking for a family who will give me a little time to settle in and then enjoy everything that comes next — my goofy antics, my affection, my playful spirit and all the love I've been saving for my forever people.

I'm ready to find my family. Could it be yours?

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days
