GUS's Story

Gus is the sweetest, chilled boy you would ever want to meet. Even though he has not been treated well, he still loves people. He was picked up as a stray by one of the local county animal controls and nobody came looking for him. He is great with other dogs and kids. Not sure about cats but the hounds we have taken in the past are usually good with cats. Unfortunately our little man is heart worm positive and will start treatment after neuter surgery and removal of several masses. He is a couch potato who likes to watch TV with dogs on it and just snuggle with his people. If you are looking for a friend who loves to go for sniff walks and snuggle in a comfy bed and watch TV with you, Gus is your boy!

If you would like to add this sweet boy to your family, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or email: rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS 1. Our adoptions are not first-come, first-served. Adoptions are based on what is best for the individual animal. Adoptions are $150.00 for dogs over 7 months and $175.00 for puppies 7 months and under, which includes all vaccinations, spay/neuter as required, and microchipping. 2. We do vet checks, reference checks, and home checks as well as background checks for pit bulls and pit mixes. 3. We do not have our own facility and must rely on a few fosters to keep the rescued animals until we can get them adopted. 4. Our animals are inside family members and are not to be left alone outside. 5. We try very hard to have the animals socialized so they can become loving family members. 6. Many of our animals have been abandoned, abused, etc. and must have families that will be patient and give the animal time to adjust. 7. Any animal that does not work out for whatever reason must be returned to a member of Rainbow Animal Rescue. They cannot be turned over to Animal Control, SPCA, etc. 8. If you want to complete an application, click on the Adoption Application link, save the file to your desktop, complete it, save it again, and send it to rainbowanimalrescue@cox.net as an e-mail attachment. 9. Please NO shock collars, invisible fences, prong collars, choke chains, and doggy doors. 10. Dogs cannot be left unattended in the yard. 11. Any other animals living with the family must be inside animals (i.e., cats). 12. All other animals must be neutered/spayed.
