Gus's Story
Meet Gus

DOB: 04-01-2024

Gus is a big, lovable goofball with a heart that doesn’t come in small portions. He came up from the south with his brother Frank after spending time on the streets and bouncing through multiple shelters, running out of chances before finally getting the one that brought him here. Now he’s making the most of it and is ready to find a home that matches everything he has to give.

Gus is equal parts cuddle bug and playmate. He loves being outside, running around the yard, and going on long walks where every new smell is worth investigating. When the energy burns off, he’s more than happy to climb onto the couch, lean into you, and hand out kisses like it’s his full-time job.

He’s a social guy who enjoys being around people and does well with other large dogs. Whether it’s playtime or downtime, Gus just wants to be part of what’s going on. He also loves toys, although “durable” is the name of the game because he doesn’t hold back when he plays.

Gus is crate trained, house trained, and knows “sit,” giving him a solid starting point. Like a lot of young, enthusiastic dogs, he’s still working on his manners. He can get overly excited, which sometimes shows up as jumping or getting a little nippy, especially during high-energy moments. He’s also been known to help himself to table-level snacks if given the chance, so continued structure and training will be important.

Because of his size and excitement level, Gus would do best in a home with adults or older, experienced handlers who can help guide him and continue working on his boundaries. A home with a yard or someone committed to regular walks and activity would be ideal for keeping him balanced and happy.

Gus is sweet, affectionate, and full of life. With patience, consistency, and the right environment, he’s going to grow into an incredibly loyal and loving companion. If you’re looking for a dog who brings both energy and heart into your home, Gus is ready to meet you.

Apply at rescueapittie.org!
