Meet Gus
Gus has the high intensity of a shepherd and the energy of puppy. He sometimes has a hard time adjusting to new situations and can be reactive. Luckily, once he's given time to adjust, he is such a playful love! He's very strong and enjoys playing rough. Gus talks a lot when he plays, but his growling is just him talking about what a good time he's having. When he gets very excited, he does mouth much like a younger puppy would. He would definitely benefit from some training to build confidence - this will help with his reactive moments as well as redirecting his puppy behaviors/energy into something better.
Gus is an active dog and would do best in a home that can burn off his energy and maybe give him a job. Because Gus needs a little time to become comfortable with new friends, he would need to meet potential adopters a few times to get used to them and show his personality more accurately.
Gus is able to make friends with some dogs, and may be happy living with the right canine sibling! You'll want to make an appointment for a meet-and-greet for your current dog(s) to meet Gus and make sure he'll fit in well in your home.
We are not sure whether Gus can live with cats.
He is not a good fit for homes with children, but teens 15+ who are mature and dog-savvy may be a different story!
Not ready to adopt yet? You can still make a difference! Use the "Sponsor This Pet" button to the right side of this page to make a donation toward the care and feeding of the animals in our shelter. We appreciate all donations, because it's thanks to your support that we are able to keep up the good work!
