Gus's Story

Gus is the shaggy stray dog posted a couple of weeks ago and never claimed. He is likely a Shih Tzu mix. He was heavily matted and required pretty close shaving. He has very soft and silky fur. The vet estimated his age at 4 yrs old. He will be getting a dental on the 9th and then he will be ready to start his new beginning in his forever home!
Gus does well in his kennel at night and for short periods during the day. He does well with potty training as long as he is kenneled when you are gone and taken out regularly. If not, he may piddle.
He’s definitely a people dog! He is in foster care with other dogs, but he doesn’t like dogs in his face or trying to play with him. He will snark at them.
His favorite place is on a chair at the kitchen table. He also loves to snuggle on laps and lay on the tops of chairs/couches. Has been good with kids visiting.
He would like to be the only dog in the home, but would tolerate the presence of another dog that would mind their own business🤣
He also would love a home where his people are not gone for long hours.
A fenced yard would be preferred. Gus’s adoption fee is $300. Applications can be submitted at www.heartrescueteam.com.
