Gus's Story

Hi Everyone, I’m Gus — and boy, do I have a story to tell!

Earlier this year, my previous owners took me to the vet to be EU because of my skin issues. I know… pretty scary stuff. But luck was on my side that day. The vet took one look at me and said, “No way—this boy deserves a chance.” He convinced my owners to surrender me, and he and his amazing staff took me in.

For the next six months, I lived at the vet’s office. They treated my skin, fed me good food, gave me baths, and made sure I finally felt safe and loved. By November 2025, they reached out to LSWR to help me find a true forever home—one that would love me forever. And now… here I am! A very lucky, very grateful 6 year old Westie with a brand new lease on life.

I recently had a dental and the LSWR vet said I’m a solid 26 pounds of muscle, energy, and pure Westie charm. I love to play and play and play. And walk and walk and walk. But I also love cuddle time with my foster parents and my foster pups; all of us share the couch and I just slipped right into their family "chill time" from the first day. My foster family says I’m an exceptional Westie, and honestly? I think they’re right.

1. 🐾 Potty trained
2. 🐾 Sleep like an angel in my crate
3. 🐾 Absolutely LOVE food
4. 🐾 My hair has grown in beautifully—just look at me!
5. 🐾 I am super great for baths and being groomed
6. 🐾 I need good-quality food to keep me healthy
7. 🐾 I’m allergic to cats, so no kitty siblings for me
8. 🐾 I need another active, playful dog in my home—this is a must!
9. 🐾 And I really want a big, secure fenced yard
10. 🐾 Oh, and I adore daily walks—non-negotiable, please!

I’ve been through a lot, but I’ve come out strong, sweet, and full of love. Now I’m just waiting for the perfect family who will keep me healthy, keep me active, and most importantly… keep me forever.

If you think you’re the one for me, head to lswr.us and fill out an application.

Xoxo, Gus 🐾
