Gunny's Story

Meet Gunny AKA Gunhilde AKA the Joyous Goblin!

Gunny is a Xolo, also known as a Mexican Hairless Dog. She was rescued by one of our partner rescues in Mexico. When she was rescued, she was quite ill and in rough shape. With lots of love and TLC, Gunny regained her health and spirit. She has made her way to Canada to search for a forever family and a happily ever after.

At about 4 years old and 30 lbs, G is a medium-sized girl. Gunny gets along with other dogs and is very friendly with people. She has not been tested with cats or young kids. Dog-savvy kids 10+ will be fine for her. She’s a happy girl and very much a couch potato – snuggling is her #1 favourite thing to do. She is given to occasional bouts of the zoomies which last a few minutes and are lots of fun to watch. With the nicer weather, she’s recently become a fan of peekaboo on the deck with her foster mom. Gunny can be left alone for several hours with no issues and will rest quietly on her dog bed. With her expressive, bat-like ears, mini mohawk and gummy smile, she really is a joyful goblin.

As a hairless dog, Gunny needs to wear clothes most of the time. She has 2 fleece jumpers that she favours and that will go with her to her new family. However, give our Canadian climate, she’ll need a substantial wardrobe for winter – and not surprisingly, she is NOT a fan of cold weather. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and house trained. She’ll gently nibble your hand and then run to the backdoor when she needs to go to the bathroom. While in Mexico, Gunny was treated for TVT and anaplasmosis, she received a clean bill of health prior to arriving in Canada. Once here, she had 2 small and benign tumors removed as well. Gunny will be adopted with a Tractive GPS tracker and a one-year subscription.

Gunny’s is currently being fostered in Toronto and her adoption fee is 750.00 and she is available for adoption in the GTHA only.
