GUNNAR's Story

Introducing Gunnar, the people-loving pup with an infectious happy wiggle-bum! Gunnar is a bundle of energy and adores playtime, especially with his treasured stuffed toys. He might have missed out on toys in his past, which is why he occasionally likes to hang on to them. Gunnar enjoys socializing with other dogs in playgroups, although he can get a bit too excited during walks when he spots a canine friend. Gunnar has a strong sit and a motivation for treats which will help make training fun! Gunnar would love an active home with ample physical and mental stimulation and without young children. 10/30/23 17:47 Reason animal needs rescue: Behavior, extended length of stay Type: Behavior Date animal needs rescue by: ASAP Additional notes: Gunnar has been in the shelter since 11/2022. He is declining in the shelter mentally, and needs to be on a fairly high dose of Trazodone for management of kennel stress. No other health concerns. Please rescue ASAP. SD 10/26/23 10:40 Able to leash and take out with no issues, seeks attention from handler, jumps on handler when out in the yard. Able to complete full handling. Has a previous bite history from when originally being brought in to the shelter. Recommend needs rescue. DT/LB 09/08/23 17:26 Gunnar has been in the shelter since November of last year, and has been on Needs Rescue since December. We continue to seek placement for him, because he continues to decline in the shelter, and is now exhibiting signs of severe kennel stress. He has been on Urgent Needs Rescue since the beginning of August. He has been placed on medical management for anxiety, but that is not a long term solution.
