GUCCI-CONNECTICUT's Story

*PETFINDER INQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION AFTER READING HIS FULL ADOPTION LISTING. THE ADOPTION APPLICATION IS LOCATED ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

Meet Gorgeous Gucci-Connecticut: a 10 month old 15 lb. male Mini Labradoodle puppy who is in an IDOG foster home in Wilton, Connecticut.

FAST FACTS about GUCCI:

*AGE: 10 months old (born August 2025)

*WEIGHT: 15 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is required; no electronic or invisible fences will be allowed as we do not think these will set him up for success.

*COAT TYPE: lower shedding curly coat that will need regular brushing and grooming once his coat grows out to prevent matting. Grooming costs are around $120/grooming session and he needs to be groomed every 8 weeks or so depending upon how long his coat is kept.

*ENERGY LEVEL: high energy; he needs daily walks and exercise to burn his puppy energy so he can be calm.

*DOGS: Yes! He loves other dogs but he is very much a puppy who may annoy other dogs with his enthusiasm and in-your-face play barking behavior. If there is another dog in his new home they will need to be OK with this puppy behavior. We dont think he would do well with a senior dog due to this. He assumes every dog wants to play and needs continued training on how to greet other dogs calmly, as not all dogs appreciate his enthusiastic approach. He will pull on the leash and bark when he sees a potential playmate, though he corrects well with treats.

*CATS: unknown; he has had no interactions with a cat in his foster home. For this reason we wont place him in a home with a cat to ensure his success in his future family.

*KIDS: Yes! He loves children! However, he needs to learn that not all kids want a high-energy dog in their space right away. He needs a family willing to reinforce "sit and wait" commands to receive affection, particularly when on a leash.

*CAR: He travels beautifully, especially once he learns the routine. He already recognizes the route to the park! His previous owner sent his special seat for him and that will be passed on to his adoptive family.

*CRATE: Gucci prefers to know his people are close by. At night, he does best with his crate kept in the bedroom near his humans. If the door is locked, he may cry initially, but he quickly settles. (In his current foster home, he has slept with the crate door open, contently staying in his area or occasionally sleeping on the floor nearby without any accidents). During the Day: He is comfortably left in a secure mudroom area with his crate door open for 60 to 90 minutes, about three times a day. You will get a little whining or crying for the first few minutes when you leave, but he quiets down quickly and goes to sleep.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes he is house trained when on a strict, consistent schedule. Because he is young and a mini, his bladder capacity has its limits. At nighttime, he can hold it a maximum of 6 hours. He is an early riser at 5 am and needs to go out to potty as soon as he wakes up. When he wakes up from his nap in the day time, he will need to go out again. If he is walking toward the door, he needs to go potty.

*LEASH: he is improving on his leash skills and will need continued work.

*AT THE VET: He was fine; just typical puppy anxiety but settles down quickly.

*VETTING: Gucci is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative. A vet mentioned that he has grade 1 luxating patellas (knee caps). Grade 1 is the lowest in severity and he is showing no signs of discomfort.

*WITH GROOMING: He tolerates brushing at home, and his previous owner reported that he does well with professional grooming.

MORE ABOUT BEAUTIFUL GUCCI:

Gucci is a 10 month old 15 lb. male Mini Labradoodle puppy who was surrendered to IDOG due to his owners demanding travel schedule. He wanted Gucci to be with a family who had more time for training and exercise so reached out to IDOG to help find him a new home to match Gucci's needs.

Gucci is incredibly affectionate and sweet and loves to cuddle up next to his humans after his play and you're going to want to snuggle right up with that fur ball. He is treat-motivated and responds beautifully to treat rewards, making leash training and command practice a joy. Just remember repetition is key; he is very trainable and likes the challenge. He is already making great strides on the leash and picks up on daily household routines very quickly. We are really working on sitting and staying.

IDEAL TYPE OF HOME:
Gucci is a vibrant, affectionate young pup who thrives on human companionship and activity. He is a true "Velcro dog" who loves to be right at your feet when its time to unwind.

The perfect match for Gucci includes:
**Human Companionship: A home where people are around frequently. He is a social butterfly and does not do well if left entirely alone for long stretches of time.

**Active Lifestyle: Owners committed to a solid daily routine (ideally three active sessions of walks, fetch, or yard play). If he gets his energy out, he transforms into a total cuddle bug! He will also go with you to the sporting fields if you're a family that is on fields a lot he will be a good one to take.

**Fence: A physical fence is required (no electronic/invisible fences allowed). He has wonderful puppy energy and needs a secure space to sprint, admire some squirrels and play ball safely.

**If There is Another Dog: He can excel as an only dog, but if there is a resident dog, they must be willing to share and be a playful companion. Gucci doesn't quite understand boundaries yet and thinks every dog is his instant best friend. We don't think he would be a good fit for a senior dog.

ADJECTIVES THAT DESCRIBE GUCCI:
Playful
Confident
Affectionate
Enthusiastic
Snuggly
Energetic
Velcro
Puppy

ACTIVITIES THAT HE ENJOYS:
Tug of war
Fetch
Walking
Chase
Chew toys and squeaky toys
He loves to watch lacrosse games; he sometimes thinks the ball is for him but he settles down and watches in your lap.
Meeting new people
Playing with other dogs
Cuddling he is a world-class snuggler once he has had his exercise

AREAS FOR GROWTH:
**Vocal When Anxious/Excited: Gucci will bark when he is nervous around strangers, encountering new dogs, or simply when he is demanding play but not afraid to greet all.
**Separation Whining: He will cry and protest for a little bit when placed in his designated area or crate during the day before settling down.
**Lack of Greeting Boundaries: He lacks a "filter" when meeting new dogs and kids; he will pull, jump, or potentially overwhelm more reserved dogs/people if not kept on a short leash and actively redirected.
**House Training: He needs routine and at night he really cant go more than 6 hours right now. Routine and he will be fine.
**Food: Watch out when food is out; he assumes it might be his for the taking

After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate - the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows its role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Gucci's listing before applying to ensure you understand what he needs to be successful in his new home.
*Please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Gucci please email us at rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for him. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.

*You can check the status of his adoption at https://www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change his status to adopted when he is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers & have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt him before we will schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs.

ADOPTION FEE: $750

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR Gucci-Connecticut, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
