Gretna. Nka Sage - Lincoln Litter's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

The puppies from the Nebraska litter were surrendered to HUGS so they could be safely rehomed, after their parents (both GSDs) had an unplanned litter prior to being spayed and neutered.

Gretna aka Gretty is a sweet, playful cuddler. She loves a good basket of toys to pick from. She loves running around, playing fetch, and ending playtime with a good nap. You can catch Gretty laying outside, enjoying the weather, or curled up at your side for a nice nap. She loves belly rubs and head scratches and will gladly give you kisses. She’s been great with the the two other pups in her foster home (a big Shepherd mix and a 12lb terrier mix) and has been playing well with both. She’s also been great with smaller children (ages 2-5 yo). Crate training and potty training have been going great and she’s even mastered sitting. She’s one smart pup and is the perfect family pet in training!

Like all GSDs and other herding breeds that we have in rescue, Gretna (aka Gretty) will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to be a well-balanced, well-behaved dog. This sweet boy would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that she needs. Because of that, his ideal owner will have prior GSD, or similar breed experience, and a playful dog buddy. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills and manners.

Gretna (aka Gretty)'s adoption fee is $450, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.
