Gretel's Story

Sweet Gretel Is Ready to Steal Your Heart! Sweet Gretel is an 11-month-old, 12-pound, black-and-tan Chihuahua/Dachshund (Chiweenie) mix ? with the gentlest, most endearing personality. A little shy at first, Gretel blossoms as she learns to trust, revealing a loving nature that will melt your heart. Gretel was lovingly surrendered to AFC in hopes of finding the forever home she deserves. She arrived with her sister, Gretchen, and these two girls are a bonded pair who must be adopted together. They love playing with toys and each other and would bring double the sweetness to your home! Gretel is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. She uses the doggie door, keeps her kennel clean overnight, and is making wonderful progress with leash training and learning to go in and out on command. She may need a little reinforcement on house training, patience, and encouragement as she settles into her new life. This precious girl would thrive with a loving family willing to help her confidence grow. In return, Gretel and her sister will fill your home with gentle companionship, playful moments, and a lifetime of unconditional love. Could you be the forever family these sweet sisters are waiting for? Animal Friends Connection Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Filling out a Dog or Cat Adoption Application does not guarantee you an adoption. It does help us determine if the dog or cat you inquire about is suitable for your home and to suggest others not yet on our site. Dear Potential Adopters, We appreciate that you are interested in one or more of our dogs or cats for adoption. Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. We reserve the right to approve or deny any application and the right not to disclose the reason. We reserve the right to visit the home where the dog or cat will be residing prior to adoption. Our cats are adopted as family pets - indoor-only; never to go outside. We believe that indoor cats are much safer and consequently happier than outdoor cats; with a few exceptions (such as ferals, or those with litter box problems and are outside savvy). All family members living in the prospective home must meet the dog or cat prior to adoption (if adopting a dog, all pets also must meet the dog). We do not allow any of our dogs to be chained, tied up, or locked in a garage. We do not allow our dogs to be crated except at bed time. Our dogs are “family” dogs. We do not allow our dogs to be “outside only”. We do not adopt any of our dogs without a securely fenced and private yard. If adopting a dog, apartments must be located downstairs with an enclosed, privately fenced patio. The fence must be 6 feet high. If you have children please read our section on children and pets on our website. Our biographies explain the needs for each dog or cat and will vary depending on the pet. These needs are based on our experience with that pet and cannot not make exceptions. Helpful hints: 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. PetFinders asks you to send us an inquiry. This may delay our response. Please do not send an inquiry; go directly to our website application process and submit an adoption application right away. a. Our biographies are usually very detailed, therefore sending an inquiry asking us to repeat the information causes more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the volunteer help to answer as many inquiries as we get. c. You can just click the link near the bottom of each bio and fill out an application and we will respond. d. Dog and cat adoption application links are different. Please refer to the specific bio for the link you want. The cat adoption application is located at: https://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-cats/. The dog adoption application is located at: https://www.animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs. 3. Our adoption applications must be submitted by an adult 18 years of age or older. Applications submitted by minors under 18 years of age will not be accepted. If the applicant lives with parents or guardians, the parents need to be contacted and must approve the adoption.
