Gretchen's Story
FROM A GEORGIA SHELTER TO A SECOND CHANCE IN OHIO

Meet Gretchen a beautiful German Shepherd mix who almost never got the opportunity to know what safety, comfort, or love truly felt like.

Last month, Gretchen found herself sitting in a crowded Georgia shelter as the clock ran out on her. Like so many good dogs caught in an overwhelmed system, she was at risk of euthanasia simply because there wasn't enough space. Despite her sweet personality and eager heart, her future was uncertain.

But Gretchen wasn't ready to give up.

With help from rescue advocates and transport volunteers, she climbed aboard a freedom ride headed north toward a new beginning. Mile by mile, she left behind the fear and stress of the shelter and made her way to Ohio where Coming Back Home Rescue promised her something every dog deserves:

A chance.

And Gretchen has embraced that chance with her whole heart.

Shes playful, intelligent, and incredibly eager to please. Shes dog-friendly, kid-friendly, housebroken, and settles beautifully in a crate without separation anxiety. At around 23 years old and 60lbs, she still has that fun, energetic spark while also craving love and connection with her people.

Now, instead of waiting in a kennel wondering if tomorrow would come, Gretchen is waiting for a family to finally call her own.

Gretchen
Female
German Shepherd Mix
23 Years Old
60lbs

Dog Friendly
Kid Friendly
Housebroken
Crate Trained
No Separation Anxiety
Smart & Playful

Available for adoption after 6/17 through Coming Back Home Rescue.
