Grant's Story
Grab my leash and your tennis shoes... we're going out for a run! I'm Grant, an 18 month old, 89 pound Giant Schnauzer mix with enough energy to keep even the most active person on their toes. Whether it's hiking, jogging, training, or exploring somewhere new, I'm happiest when I'm moving and spending time with my people. I may have been found as a stray in Springfield, but I'm ready to leave that part of my story behind and find a home that appreciates everything I have to offer. I'm house trained, walk nicely on a leash, and while I'm not a fan of the crate, I do know my manners. I'm incredibly smart and eager to learn, especially if snacks are involved! I already know sit, down, and tummy up, and because I'm so food motivated, training with me is both easy and fun. I think I could even make an incredible service or working dog with the right guidance.

I love people and genuinely enjoy being around other dogs, but I do have one challenge that my future family needs to understand. I am an extreme resource guarder. Food and toys are treasures in my mind, and I'll guard them from other animals. Because of that, I'll need a dog-savvy home that can safely manage my environment and continue my training. I may even be happiest as an only dog, where I don't have to worry about sharing my favorite things. I also need a home without small children. Kids with snacks, toys, or unpredictable movements can be overwhelming for me, and my family should be committed to setting everyone up for success. What I really need is someone with patience, consistency, and an active lifestyle. If you're willing to invest the time to exercise my body and challenge my brain, I'll reward you with unwavering loyalty, endless enthusiasm, and a lifetime of adventures.

**Oh, and there's one more thing I'm pretty proud of—I'm a heart worm survivor. I've already overcome one big obstacle, and now I'm ready for the best chapter yet. If you're an experienced dog person looking for a brilliant, energetic partner who's worth the effort, I can't wait to meet you.

My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! We do adopt out of state with vet references and video home check. *Adopter is responsible for coming to get the dog and returning the dog if the adoption does not work out*

Don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook!-www.facebook.com/rescueonespringfield

*Remember, dogs are pack animals.
