Gracie Lou's Story
Gracie Lou was found wandering the streets of Detroit after her family moved away and left her behind. We believe she is about 5 years old and has likely had several litters. When she was found, she was much too skinny and clearly had been through a lot.

Despite everything she's endured, Gracie Lou is the sweetest girl you could hope to meet. She just wants to cuddle, relax, and spend time with her people. She's not a high-energy dog who needs constant activity-she's perfectly happy being a laid-back companion.

Gracie Lou can be a little hesitant around things that are new to her, which isn't surprising considering what she's been through. But she's getting braver every day and slowly learning that the world isn't such a scary place. She also enjoys hanging out in her crate and will often go there on her own when she wants to relax and feel comfortable.

Gracie Lou is heartworm positive and has already begun treatment with Heritage Animal Hospital. Even if she is adopted before treatment is complete, the rescue will continue to cover the cost of her care.

She gets along well with other dogs (and even horses, based on one very cute photo!). She has not yet been cat tested.

After everything she's been through, Gracie Lou deserves a soft place to land. She's going to make someone a truly wonderful companion.
