Grace and Willow's Story
Meet Grace and Willow, a bonded pair of female Dobermans whose connection is as beautiful as their names. They are currently receiving the medical care they need and are expected to be ready for their forever home around March. We are looking for a forever home where Grace and Willow can stay together and settle into the life they deserve. Grace and Willow are fostered in Virginia.
Grace is an absolute sweetheart. She is approximately 4 years old, and she is quite calm for a young Doberman. Grace is blue with cropped ears and a docked tail. She loves a good chase outside, a fun walk and lots of toys. She would do great in a quiet household with her buddy Willow. She was a little timid and unsure of her surroundings when first rescued. Through patience, love and the support of her friend Willow, Grace has really come out of her shell! She gets excited at meal times, can't wait to play outside and loves to play with her toys! She is also a big fan of football Sunday naps on the couch.
She is not crate trained, but does okay in a puppy-proof room with Willow when her foster parents go out. Grace is a sock thief! She is good with cats and other female dogs. She also lives with a 16 year old, small, female dog, 1 female cat and 1 male cat in her foster home. At this time, she is unknown with male dogs and children, as she has not had the opportunity to be introduced to either while in her foster home. At first, she is very excited when introduced to new animals. She does pull on the leash and is doing well with leash training.
Willow is the definition of velcro dog. She is either next to her human, or her buddy Grace. As with most Dobermans, she thinks she is a lap dog and requires pets 24/7. She has not gotten the love she needed in the past, but she makes sure she gets it now! Willow is approximately 7 years old and does require a slower paced household. She has arthritis, spondylosis and hip dysplasia. Her bones may be old, but she does not let that slow her spirit. She likes to run around with her friend Grace, just not as fast and that's okay! She loves a short game of fetch with her favorite squeaky tennis ball. Willow is red with cropped ears and a docked tail. She has eyes that can melt anyone’s heart. Once you get that puppy dog look from Willow, you're hooked!
Like Grace, she was also timid when first rescued. She needed to be close to someone all the time and seemed very nervous about her surroundings. She still likes to be close to people but has grown strong and brave! Willow is not crate trained, but her foster parents see no need for a crate. No destructive behaviors have been observed. She is a mild leash puller. She requires a slow feeder bowl (which will come with her) because she eats very fast. Willow is good with cats and other dogs. She also lives with a 16 year old, small, female dog, 1 female cat and 1 male cat in her foster home. Willow is unknown with male dogs and unknown with children, as she has not had the opportunity to be introduced to either while in her foster home.
DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA.
