Grace 's Story
Grace has definitely had an AMAZING transformation. Anatolian Shepherds are known for their caretaking ability and Grace is no exception. She had obviously escaped a life of extreme neglect and was intuitive enough to approach an Animal Resource officer for help after finding herself alone, starving, and feeling defeated. She was just a skeleton when that sweet resource officer collected her up and brought her to safety. Grace was exhausted, having apparently been used for breeding, she had not been provided the care or nutrition she needed for herself, let alone to raise babies.

It has taken some time for Grace to adjust to life in the bustling suburb of Seattle after escaping her death sentence in a rural Oklahoma shelter, but she has blossomed in the care of her foster family. She has learned to enjoy chew treats, play time with her canine foster siblings, participation in outings and adventures, and expanding her friend group to include people of all ages.

Grace has a gentle spirit and an old soul. Now that she’s a fit 71#, she has gained some spunk, and her goofy antics will entertain her forever family. She is very much a velcro dog, never wandering far from her people, so getting good pictures has been a bit challenging.

Grace still has some hesitation when it comes to staircases and chaotic city activity, but she is getting braver with each new experience. She has discovered she loves car rides, beach excursions, and family/pack walks on forest trails. She loves dogs of all sizes and is very tolerant of puppy shenanigans.

We think Grace is between 4-6 years old, house trained, crate trained, quiet, and well mannered. She would love a quiet home with a family who enjoys being outside, but also spends evenings cuddled up on the couch. She is used to being left home for a few hours in her crate if need be.

If you’re thinking you might be the right match for Grace, please fill out our application. She’s currently in the Seattle area but we do have volunteers who are willing to drive Grace to her forever home anywhere within the PNW region.

If you are interested in adopting Grace, please fill out the application on our website at: https://www.westernaustralianshepherdrescue.com/adoption-application.html.

We only schedule meet n greets after a completed application which includes a home visit and reference checks.
