Gouda's Story

Personality:
Fun loving, water loving gal! She has no separation anxiety and can be left by herself in the house when necessary. Gouda is a perfect little girl with a lot of personality and a stubborn streak, but she is also very smart and loyal and is ready for her forever home!

Education:
Good with bathroom and never had an accident in a home, fully crate trained. Gouda does pretty good on a leash, understands leash pressure but can get amped up when triggers are around, but she's been recovering a lot quicker lately. She has been going to the group classes and doing really well around other calm dogs. She's super smart and is eager to learn and has excellent recall, especially when there are no triggers around.

Favorite Activities:
Sunbathing, napping next to her person, chewing her wishbone, playing in water, exploring/sniffing yard, playing hide and seek games and snuffle toys. Gouda prefers walks in the park and quiet neighborhoods. She loves camping and hiking, totally a nature girl and definitely more at peace away from the busy parts of the city.

Looking For:
A nice suburb home with peace and quiet without cats. She is a fairly low maintenance easy dog that just wants to be around her person. She needs someone with patience and understanding that sometimes she needs to move at a slower pace. She would be fine in a home with kids; she usually just ignores the younger kids but is very friendly with older more respectful children.

Special Needs/Concerns:
Gouda had her right hip replaced and now takes daily carprofen and some supplements. She needs her ears cleaned regularly to prevent infections.

Social Media:
Instagram @adoptgouda

Bio:
She's here for a gouda time!

Hi guys, I am Gouda and I am a sweetie pie, young female Shepherd mix and weighing 53 lbs. I was found in a box with my siblings and rescued to go to a lovely foster home. I have been learning house manners and acing them! I am bathroom trained, and am working on crate training as well as leash skills.

I am a fairly relaxed dog, more like a cat who loves to stretch and lounge! Through the day I get spurts of energy and zoom about happily. I am not super into enrichment but I do love treats! I really enjoy the water and going to the beach is my favorite! I am not super keen on going to strangers when on the leash but I am a polite host at home in my comfort zone. I do love new people once given a moment to trust them, and I usually avoid younger kids but are friendly with older kids who let me choose my pace.

I am selective with new dogs(respond well to 'leave it') and just need a slow introduction. My foster mom usually supervises my play with other dogs because I can get overexcited and might need help in de-escalating. I would do best without cats in the house. I also enjoy going for a walk when there is another familiar dog with me.

I am a suburban girl and like the calmness of houses better than city life. Car rides are also eh for me and I just tell myself that it will be over soon!

I am a girl with lots of beautiful flavors but being a bestie comes at the top! I am loyal, your lil follower, a total beach babe. I will protect you, comfort you with my quiet presence and you can always count on me. Being a bit anxious, a suburb home will be best for me. I don't need a lot, being moderately energetic, just companionship.

When I have a chance with you, I'll be your ride or die, no one else will matter.

My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to meet me, please apply!

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
