Gorda's Story

Gorda Foster Update
Gorda has been with us for a week now. Heres What makes Gorda so special
1. When she loves, she loves hard & unconditionally. She loves to cuddle, & be by your side.
2. She's a constant companion. Making you laugh. A little shadow. A true bestie.
3. When you look in those big beautiful eyes, you will melt.
4. She doesn't ask for much. Just someone she can love & who will love her right back.
5. She's energetic & playful, but also always down for a cuddle on the couch & a warm blanket. Truly best of both worlds.

We are working on potty training & she's been doing very well with consistency, positive reinforcement, her jacket & booties. (And her favorite freeze dried salmon to reward outside bathroom trips). If gone for work she will use her pee pads

She rarely barks. She's is curious about who's outside, but never really barks. Which has been a pleasant surprise!

We are working on crate training. While she doesn't love being in her crate, she will stay in there when we're gone for short periods. More training, patience & positive reinforcement will help.

For now she's been sleeping in our bed, if you don't mind that she's a wonderful co-sleeper. She makes her little corner on a plush blanket near the end of the bed & sleeps all through the night with no issues. When we wake up & see her, she is SO cute!

Like all Divas she can get be a little spicy when it comes to her favorite chews, the people she loves, or if you encroach her in a way she interprets wrong. When she gets spicy we use a firm NO, walk away & don't acknowledge her for a bit until she settles. These have been rare instances, but because of this it may be best for any potential adopter to be experienced chihuahua owner or someone who can appreciate that she's a girl who sets boundaries.

She can get a little mouthy when playing. So we redirect with toys! She gets very excited with her toys!

She would need to be the only dog & likes when other dogs respect her space.

Overall Gorda is an AMAZING dog. She is so loving to her people. She is playful, funny, soulful & a true joy to have in our home. She's our first foster experience & we are beyond grateful for the lessons she's taught us in the short time & lucky to experience her love! In Gorda's eyes you're Beyonce & she's Kelly! I hope you get the reference
