Goose's Story
Goose is loving his new life in Rescue. He’s about 8 years old, neutered, and once he’s off his meds and can finish putting on weight, he should be in the 55-60 pound range. Goose is being fostered with 2 middle aged weims (male and female), 2 teenagers and a rotation of random big dogs who get boarded at his house. He gets along with every human who comes into contact with, from young to old, as well as all the dogs he has met along the way.

He is great on leash, calm in the car, and loves food and attention (in that order) more than anything. Goose would do best in a multi dog family. Age, gender, size, etc of any potential canine housemate isn’t important and he is happy to take direction from other dogs without argument. When crated by himself, he is not a happy camper but if crated next to his weim siblings, he curls up and goes to sleep for hours with no issues at all.

Although he was an outside dog, he is house trained. Like most GSP’s, he is a chewer but isn’t destructive as long as he has a few bones, stuffies, rope toys, etc to satisfy his urges. In their absence, he will find things around the house (shoes, pillows, etc) to carry around like prizes.

Goose hasn’t been tested with cats but doesn’t seem to have much prey drive and has shown absolutely zero desire to escape. He will probably be fine with shorter fencing and younger kids (although he will definitely try to steal their food!). At night time, when given the choice of where to sleep, he chooses the crate next to his human’s bed and is happiest there. As long as you’ve got lots of attention to give, Goose would be a perfect companion for you!
