Goldie's Story

Note: To see additional pictures of Goldie and to apply to adopt, please visit the "Foster Care" page of our website: www.BaytownHumaneSociety.org Goldie is a really sweet Golden Retriever whose age has been determined by vets to be between 5 and 7 years. She was rescued when she wandered up to someone's home who took her in from the cold rain. She was skinny, filthy, matted and limping on her right rear leg. Today, Goldie has gained weight, her coat is soft and beginning to shine, and she has been fully vaccinated. The vets believe that she is already spayed and that her rear leg injury is an old one that has developed a bit of arthritis, now. With meds she no longer limps; and, in fact, can run with the best of them! Goldie loves going in the car, and is a perfect passenger lying quietly watching the scenery whisk by. Her favorite toy is the Kong. She walks around with one in her mouth nearly all the time! Goldie does Not like storms, but her fear is manifested simply by pacing and panting. She is not in the least destructive! She simply wants to be in a close place where she feels safe. We have very easily helped her with that fear by putting a Thunder Shirt on her and providing her a large crate covered with heavy blankets. The door is left open, and she can retreat to that safe place until the storm has passed. A closet will work the same way. Goldie is a happy girl and does great with all the other dogs in the home. She loves people, too! This precious, gentle girl is ready to find her permanent home and a family who will love her as much as she will love them... A Lot! If you'd like to see a little gold in your future, apply for Goldie today!
