Goldberg's Story
Goldberg!

Objects in picture are larger than they appear.

This dude has a noggin worth bragging about. Unfortunately for him, he thinks he’s a lap dog. We don’t have the heart to tell him differently. He’s looking for a human with a great big lap to cuddle up in.

Goldberg keeps a clean kennel, enjoys head pats and butt scritches, and has the sweetest golden eyes around. He does well on leash, though he can pull with all that "gentle giant" strength behind him.
We have not dog-tested Goldberg due to his size, so we recommend he be the only pet in the home.

He recently went on a Dog Day Out to the beach with a couple of our volunteers. Here's what they had to say, "He’s such a sweet, gentle giant. He was great in the car, and he was friendly to every person he met at the beach (not a huge fan of the water and the loud waves though). He was very considerate and looked back to make sure neither of us were too far behind him on our walk.
P.S. does not like pup cups"

Goldberg is currently happy, comfortable, and enjoying life but he does have an inoperable mast cell tumor on one of his front legs. Right now, the tumor appears dormant and may remain that way for years. He is not expected to need care beyond what would be typical for a senior dog at this time. He is not currently on any medications.

What Goldberg really needs is someone willing to love him for however long that may be whether that’s years or somewhere shorter along the road and someone willing to give him the compassion every dog deserves when the time eventually comes.

If you’re looking for a big-headed best friend with lap dog dreams and a heart full of love, come meet Goldberg.

Male
6 years
103 lbs
XL Bully mix

Origin Story:
Found on Tyler Street in New Chicago/Hobart on 5-7-26
Brought to the shelter on 5-8–26
Not microchipped.
Not neutered.
Wearing yellow bandana.
---------------------------------------------------
Interested in adopting? The BEST way to adopt is to come meet the pet in person at the shelter and fill out an application while you’re here.
