GLOVER's Story
Glover (A566732) needs someone who sees past the first impression Glover arrived on April 9 and he came in scared. At first he tucked himself away, unsure of what was going to happen next. As he has gotten used to our staff, we have started to see real glimpses of the dog hiding underneath all that worry. Watching his shell come down piece by piece has been incredibly rewarding. This is a dog who wants to trust. He just needs someone patient enough to let him. Outside is where Glover seems happiest. He loves stretching out in the grass, rolling around and taking in all the smells. There is something softer and sweeter about him in those moments. He walks nicely on a leash too, which makes his yard time even more enjoyable. We always try to be honest about our dogs' needs, and Glover deserves nothing less. He did test well with a friendly female dog, but he does resource guard toys and food with both dogs and people. We do not know what his past looked like, but it likely was not an easy one. Because of this, he should not be placed in a home with small children. If adopted into a home with other dogs, toys should not be left out unless Glover has gone through specific training to help him succeed. Dogs like Glover are often overlooked, but they are the ones who bond the deepest once they feel safe. He deserves a home that understands structure and patience. He deserves someone who will teach him gently and give him the chance he never had before. Glover is not perfect, but he is absolutely worth the effort! Glover is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 50 pounds. All animals adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, spayed/neutered and given a 30 day flea/tick preventative. Ready to meet Glover? Stop by 4950 Triana Blvd SW in Huntsville, Alabama. No appointment is necessary to meet our available animals. All adopters must be 19 years or older and be able to provide a valid ID.
