Glenda's Story

Say hello to Glenda! She's a stunningly beautiful Cattle Dog mix who is 1-2 years old who weighs just 28 pounds although we think she could easily add some weight to get her to 35 pounds. She's a perfect medium sided pup. We rescued her when her family surrendered her after she had beautiful puppies. It's hard to believe people can be so terrible but we are going to jump start her new beautiful life when we find her wonderful new family! She's living with a great Foster family who have other pups and say she's such a good girl. Here's some info they've shared about life with Glenda:
* She loves everyone she meets and they love her back - loves to be with her peeps
* Great with other dogs; hasn't been tested with kitties yet
* Smart cookie and very loving to adults and kids
* Medium energy level and would love exercise and mental stimulation
* Enjoys car rides and ready to be your adventure partner
* Loves being outside - whether she's stretching her legs on a walk or soaking up the sun in your fenced in backyard
* Can balance on her back legs so she'll be a great dance partner :)
* Would love a doggie sibling but could be a solo pup with an active and engaged family
* House-trained and crate trained

Glenda will be a wonderful addition to a family looking for a great and happy pup! She's healthy, spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations. She's going to be the light of her family's eye. We think she'd love a fenced in backyard. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info on her. We think she's going to be very popular so encourage you to submit an application for her that you'll find on the lrhrescue.com website.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
