Gizmo's Story

Gizmo is a handsome tricolor Beagle boy. His approximate age is 3 years old. He’s on the smaller side, 27lbs. Gizmo has a shorter tail, we’re not sure if he was born like that or if something happened to his tail, however it does’t seem to bother him at all, it’s just a unique trait!

We were told that he was an outdoor dog, at his original home. His previous family had to move and couldn’t bring him over. He’s now crate trained, he sleeps indoors at night, and still working on potty training. He’s ok with other dogs, unknown about cats, and we’d like to place him in a home with no kids since he’s active/hyper and can be reactive. He’d love a home with a backyard to run and play. A loving home with an active Beagle experienced family would be amazing! He’ll need a family to help him work on his training.

After we took him in, Gizmo has been living with another family for a month now and this is what they have to say about him:

“He’s done great with potty training. We only had 2 accidents when we first started. He’s been doing great in his crate. I taught him to stay when the front door opens. I have taught him touch. I hold my hand out and he bumps his nose against my palm for a treat. It’s a work in progress but he’s doing really good with it. It’s to help with recall. We are working on leave it. He also loves kongs and lick mats but gets a little possessive of them. He’s been fantastic in the car. Great with other dogs we have met up with my sisters dog a few times.”

Included with adoption:

- Vet wellness exam
- Vaccinations up to date (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies)
- Rabies Certificate
- Fecal test (Negative results)
- FLEX4 test: Negative results for Heartworm, Anaplasma and Lyme. Positive result for Ehrlichia.
- Medication to treat Ehrlichia (1 month of Doxycycline pills)
- Medication to treat ear infection (1 week of ear drops)
- Heartworm/Flea/Tick/Worm preventive given up to date (Simparica Trio)
- Microchip with prepaid lifetime enrollment (AKC reunite)
- Neuter surgery
- Leash and collar with microchip ID collar tag
- Adoption contract
- Some of his current food

Gizmo is ready to be adopted, he already finished his treatments. Pick up would be in San Diego, CA. Transportation could be arranged to the right home, if needed.

If Gizmo sounds like a good fit for your family, and you’re interested in adopting him, feel free to fill out our adoption application form and we’ll get back to you.
