GIZMO's Story

WATCH MY VIDEO...Meet Gizmo, a wonderful 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier whose story is heartbreaking, but we are determined to make sure his next chapter is a happy one.

Gizmo was adopted from our shelter in January, and we thought he had found his family and his forever home. Then, in July, a Good Samaritan brought him back to us after finding him roaming on his own. Because Gizmo is microchipped, we were able to contact his owner. When they finally got back to us, we learned that they had moved out of the area and simply did not want Gizmo anymore.

If that does not break your heart, nothing will.

But Gizmo does not seem to hold a grudge. He is still a friendly, affectionate boy who loves people and is ready to give his heart to someone who will truly appreciate it. Our staff and volunteers have so many wonderful things to say about him. He enjoys pets, loves belly rubs, happily plays with toys, and enjoys interactive play with his people. He is also very happy when treats are involved!

Our trainers have been working with Gizmo, and he is doing incredibly well. He already knows several commands and is showing us just how smart and eager to learn he can be. He clearly enjoys the attention, interaction, and positive reinforcement that come with training.

Gizmo has already had to learn the hard way that not every promise of a forever home lasts. This sweet boy deserves so much better. He deserves a family who will see what a wonderful dog he is, give him the love and guidance he needs, and make him one very important promise: you will never abandon him.

Gizmo has been given a second chance. Now he just needs someone to make sure it is his last.
