Ginny's Story

Meet Ginny!
Meet me and some of my other foster friends this Saturday, May 30 from 11am – 2pm at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre! We would love to help you find your newest family member. To help make the adoption process smoother, please complete an adoption application online ahead of time to become pre-approved. All members of the household — including any current dogs — must be present at the event so we can complete introductions and help verify compatibility. Please note that we do not hold dogs, and many potential adopters will be attending the event. We hope to see you there!

DOB: 3/25/26
Current Weight: 3.5 lbs

Tiny, adorable, and full of personality — Ginny is one half of an unexpected little duo that stole our hearts. Ginny and her brother Gary were born after their sweet Chihuahua mom was unexpectedly dropped off at one of our foster homes, only to deliver her puppies just one week later. Mom weighs just 10 lbs herself, and while we are unsure who dad was, these babies have remained incredibly petite in size.

Ginny is a sweet, social little puppy who has been lovingly raised in foster care and is learning all about the world around her. Like most puppies, she is playful, curious, and always ready for her next adventure. She enjoys attention, affection, and keeping her foster family entertained with her tiny puppy antics.

Because of her extremely small size and delicate build, Ginny is looking for a home without young children and for a family that has good spatial awareness, as she is often under-foot or tucked into small spaces you would not expect. She will also require a securely physically fenced yard, as puppies this tiny can be very difficult and unsafe to leash walk regularly. She would do best in a home without senior dogs, as older dogs are not always appreciative of puppy energy, lack of boundaries, and constant playfulness.

Ginny is still very much a baby and will need a family committed to all the important stages of puppyhood, including house training, crate training, proper socialization, and continued structure and routine. Her future family should understand that puppies explore the world with their mouths, meaning chewing, puppy mischief, and sleepless nights can all be part of the journey. Because of this, she is looking for a home where someone is around more often than not initially to help guide her as she grows.

Chihuahuas are known for their long lifespans and can live well into their mid to late teens — often 16 years or more — so adopting Ginny means making a long-term commitment to love and care for her throughout all stages of life.

If you are looking for a tiny best friend with a huge heart and are prepared for the responsibility, patience, and joy that comes with raising a puppy, Ginny may just be the perfect addition to your family.

Ginny will go home in foster-to-adopt status until her spay surgery is completed at 6 months of age at one of our partner veterinary offices (Chesterfield, Clawson, Clinton Township, Sterling Heights, or Rochester). This procedure is included in the adoption fee and is non-negotiable.

Ginny is:
Current on age appropriate vaccinations
Dewormed
Fecal tested
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Scheduled for spay surgery at our partner veterinary office (included in the adoption fee)

ADOPTION FEE: $450

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
