Gia (Courtesy Post)'s Story
Meet Gia!

Gia is an 8 year old, 12 pound female chihuahua in need of a new home. Could you be the right fit for her? After being in the same home for eight years, she is now needing a new forever home due to changes in family dynamics. Gia has some stranger anxiety and requires a quiet, low-traffic adult home. She should go to a human who is experienced with chihuahuas.

Gia is deeply loyal, affectionate, and attached to her primary handlers, but as mentioned above, she has high initial stranger anxiety. She has no history of breaking skin, but will growl or snap if cornered by strangers or if an unfamiliar person approaches her food bowl. This is 100% managed by feeding her exclusively inside her closed crate and placing her in a separate room when guests visit. She is crate-trained and stays completely quiet and calm when kenneled. Once she builds trust, she allows full handling and cooperates beautifully with her regular vet staff. She loves her walking harness but does not like wearing dog clothes anymore. Gia is potty trained and does her business outside. She should go to a home with a fenced yard.

Gia is spayed and fully up to date on her veterinary care.

Gia’s adoption donation is $300.

If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.

To submit an application go here: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.

Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.
Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
