Gertrude's Story

Hi! My name is Gertrude but I also go by Gertie, Birdie, and Momma in my foster home.

I LOVE everyone! Including kids! My foster mom tells me Ive never met a stranger! I dont know what that means but I agree! I wag my tail and smile at everyone who walks past me and it is the BEST day ever when they stop and say hi to me!

I know some people think I look scary, so when I approach new people or new dogs, I get really low to the ground and army crawl towards them. Just in case they dont think Im nice (even though I TOTALLY am)!

I was at the shelter for a month and I was a volunteer favorite! Everyone said I was very sweet, kind, and loving! I laid in my kennel and barely made a sound, and I wasnt reactive to any dogs when I walked by them.
I also share my home with other dogs

Im a low energy and low maintenance girly. Id be thrilled to hangout with someone who works from home, but Id also be okay being left to sleep at home on a nice comfy bed with my stuffies and nap until they return home from their work day!

Speaking of stuffies, I LOVE my lamby! My foster mom calls it my emotional support lamby because I suckle on her. It brings me a lot of comfort!

The only thing that really scares me are car rides because Ive only been on them a few times and its all very new to me!

I walk well on my leash but I still have to learn some manners. I get so excited when I meet new people so I jump. But Im working on it!

My foster mom says Im going to light up someones entire world one day and that Im very special. I hope shes right! Please fill out an application to meet me so I can have another BEST day ever!
