Geronimo's Story

Meet Geronimo! Geronimo is an estimated 3-4 years old black roan male GSP who came to us after his owner sadly passed away.

Here’s what his foster had to say:
Geronimo:
Loves people and wants to be where you are all the time, a long nap on the couch is his favorite hobby, walks well on a leash, and seems potty trained - no accidents in the house! He is the biggest snuggle bug and will make a great pet for an active house or a slower paced one - he can be pretty lazy! He is happiest snuggled on the couch with his person for hours napping and watching tv. He is also the goofiest thing: spins in circles when he gets excited and his top lips get snagged between his teeth after he yawns and it looks like he’s smiling?

Not the biggest fan of his crate (we’re working on it) and still cries when you put him in it but it’s slowly getting better, takes a while to warm up to a new dog (at least male; cant say about female) and has some issues of growling and snapping at the other dog in the house if he feels jealous (they’re getting attention and he’s not). I think he could be happy in a home with another dog since he does seem to like having another dog to follow around the back yard and play with (he’s still figuring out how to really play) but I think he would thrive as an only dog getting ALL of the attention!! If there is another dog I think it would need to be a slower introduction/transition.

He loved his dog siblings Popeye and Nosey who are also in rescue.

He has come a long way in 2 weeks! Everything scared him - AC kicking on, the fridge beeping, the oven door opening, someone knocking on the door. He is really settling in and gaining some confidence and his personality is the best (typical gsp goofy).

Geronimo is a boy who will love a home that offers lots of snuggles and slow introductions with new dogs since he received no proper socializing as a pup.

Apply at www.makgsprescue.org
