Georgie's Story

UPDATE: 9/10/26- Georgie went to the vet to verify dry eye since they did not seem to be improving with the initial drops. Vet did confirm KCS (dry eye) but stated that because his eyes were inflamed, his lids were rolling inward. She was unsure if this was only due to inflammation or if Georgie may have entropian, which does require surgery to correct. He was put on cyclosporine drops which are medicated drops to get the inflammation down. We will know more once the inflammation is reduced and can see if it is actually entropian or just because of the inflammation causing the eyelids to roll inwards. He was also found to have an ear infection so we treated him with Claro for that. He is doing well otherwise and is still a happy, loving boy!
Georgie came into rescue with Tucker when their mom developed health issues and she stated she wasn't able to give them the time and care that they needed. She hoped we could place them where they will get the life that they deserve. Tucker and Georgie have been together since puppyhood and are bonded however they should be able to be separated and be fine. It may, actually, be beneficial for them to go to separate homes.
Both boys are crate trained and do well with other dogs, kids and have lived with cats. Tucker is the more active of the two and he does look to Georgie for guidance when they are together. Georgie is a more laid back, calmer energy and seems to be very smart, learning routines quickly. Thats not to say he doesnt have his playful side too but I think he prefers chilling out and enjoying the "5 o'clock somewhere" lifestyle. Georgie rides well. He is leash trained and walks well on a leash. Georgie will be a wonderful family companion and is the perfect size for just about everything and everyone!
Georgie saw the vet on 8/5/26 and was found to have dry eye with no other issues noted. He will need artificial tears/eye drops as needed. Vet stated that he may just have a seasonal/allergy related dry eye issue or it may be life long. Luckily, artificial tears are cheap and readily available everywhere so it should be easily managed. He has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention with us and had a negative heartworm test. He tested negative for intestinal parasites. Georgie weighed 17.6 pounds as of 8/5/26. He is fully vetted now and ready to find his forever family.
If interested in giving Georgie his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Georgie's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Georgie based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
