George #5298's Story
Meet George!

George is a handsome 4-year-old male Australian Shepherd who came to us from a rural California shelter. He sat there until his situation became critical, and thankfully we were able to spring him out and give him the fresh start he deserved.

George arrived in rough shape. His body condition wasn't great, his coat was thin, and he seemed stressed and overwhelmed by the shelter environment. Despite everything, he was incredibly sweet.

George is a total love and acts like an Aussie who simply never got enough opportunities or life experiences. He can be anxious and unsure in unfamiliar situations, especially busy environments, and needs someone willing to help him build confidence.

He generally likes people right away, but earning his trust and building a strong bond are important. George loves affection and will lean right in for pets. He can still be wary when unsure and may become mouthy or nippy with unfamiliar people handling him, so introductions should be slow and respectful. Once trust is established, he is an absolute love bug.

George LOVES other dogs he knows! He is playful, sweet, and loves being part of a pack. He can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs in public, so patience and continued socialization are important. Once he meets another dog, he usually settles and is calm and sweet.

George's ideal home:
• Experienced dog owner
• Securely fenced yard
• Patience, consistency, and continued training
• Active lifestyle — George is high energy!
• No apartments or high-density housing
• Someone home more often than not
• No children due to his mouthy/nippy behavior

Bonus: A confident, well-socialized dog or a country setting.

George would thrive with room to explore, follow his people around, play, and gain confidence. He would also make a fantastic hiking partner.

George is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready for someone willing to give him the patience, structure, adventure, and love he deserves.

If you think George might be your boy, please submit an application. Transportation is available.

Fostered in Redwood Estates, CA

https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application

There are some additional fees: $20 microchip transfer fee to register and transfer him to his new furever family.
