Gentle boy Dumplin's Story
Gentle boy - Dumplin'

We're going to let you in on a little secret...

Whoever adopts Dumplin is getting away with something.

Seriously.

He's about 1 1/2 years old, weighs around 60 pounds, and somehow is one of the sweetest, funniest, most lovable dogs we've ever had the pleasure of knowing. The kind of dog that walks into your life and, before you realize it, has become your shadow, your adventure buddy, your couch companion, and your best friend.

So how did a dog like this end up overlooked?

Dumplin came to the shelter as a stray with his sibling. In an overcrowded shelter, they quietly became the longest residents. Tragically, his sibling never got the chance to leave.

We were able to rescue Dumplin before his time ran out, and every day since, he's reminded us what an incredible dog was hiding behind that kennel door.

The best part?

Dumplin isn't carrying around the weight of his past. He isn't fearful or shut down. He's a happy, goofy, tail-wagging boy who greets each day with optimism. He may be a little shy when meeting someone new, but it takes only a few minutes before he's leaning in for pets and trying to convince you that he's actually a 60-pound lap dog.

He's wonderful with dogs, cats, and kids. He's crate trained, incredibly smart, and now that he's living in a foster home, he's learning all about life indoors. We don't think anyone ever taught him the rules before, but he's eager to learn and genuinely wants to make his people happy. Like any young dog, he still has a little teenage goofiness, and honestly... that's part of his charm.

We have a theory about Dumplin.

We don't think he was overlooked because of his personality.

We think he was overlooked because he was just another black dog in a sea of dogs.

That's your opportunity.

The luckiest family just doesn't know it yet.

We can't promise you'll never step on a toy, or that he'll stop trying to convince you he's a lap dog.

But we can promise this:

The day you bring Dumplin home will be the day you wonder how you ever lived without him.

The Comeback Pack is located in Murrieta, California.

Apply to adopt at thecomebackpack.org
