Gemma's Story

Gemma came to us after the hurricane hit at the end of August. Her previous owners had multiple dogs locked up in kennels outside to weather the storm while the owners went somewhere safe. The storm ended up tearing the kennels apart and lead to all the dogs getting loose and wandering around. Thankfully someone called animal control and all the dogs we taken off property and kept safe.

Since coming into our rescue Gemma absolutely LOVES kids. Her current foster home has a six year old boy and a one year old girl. The little boy can give her commands and kennel her with absolutely no problems. The little girl if the kennel is left open will join Gemma in the crate. Gemma absolutely loves it. She also plays with the little boy outside. Gemma is a smaller pittie mix. She should be around 30lbs once we get more weight on her.

Gemma pay’s absolutely no mind to cats. Given her past just needs some time to adjust to other dogs. She does adjust well and ignores them. Gemma had no socialization and was completely shut down when we got her. She’s slowly coming out of her shell and gaining trust with humans again.

She has the cutest underbite and loves to smile when happy. Everyone at her vets office loves her. She’s currently recovering from her spay. Gemma is fully vetted and ready to find her furever home that will love this little ham and keep her safe.
