Gator's Story

46lbs. 2-5years (unsure of age due to poor care)
This sweet boy has had a rough life. We are unsure of his age. Guessing him to be between 2-5years old. He is underweight but we are working on that, day by day. He is the sweetest boy despite what we believe he has been through. He was brought in by a sheriff's deputy one weekend, after being found stray in Bloomfield. He is covered in old wounds and he has an abscess on his face that is still healing. It also looks like tape had been wrapped around his muzzle. His poor body tells us he was probably a bait dog. He also acts like he was fending for himself for quite a while. He will get into the trash and eat anything. So he needs guidance and boundaries. He had a sleepover and it was noticed he has some very intense nightmares. He's skittish and shy but even though he's clearly been treated poorly, he loves people and is so easy to trust. Belly rubs are his favorite thing. He is crate trained, but not house broke. However, he is a quick learner and in one night he learned to be comfortable walking up a ramp to get into bed, and got so much better at walking on a leash. He has so much to overcome and we can only do so much here at the shelter, even though he has every single one of the staff wrapped around his little toe beans.
Can you help him?? We can have him neutered and he is already UTD on vaccines and is HW negative. He shows no food aggression whatsoever and is good with other dogs (aside from some humping).

If you are interested in adopting this pet please complete our pre-adoption application at: https://nckyanimalshelter.com/adoption-application/
We will contact you once we have received your application. An approved application is required before adoption. There are no same-day adoptions. If you have any immediate questions please contact our adoption office at 502-348-1885.
