Our Mission
The Nelson County Animal Shelter strives to give each animal a chance to be adopted or rescued. We want every animal to experience love, compassion, and excellent care during their stay at our shelter. We give the animals our best and we seek the best for them.
Adoption Policy
We ask that potential adopters view our pets online. If interested in a particular pet we ask for adopters to submit a pre-adoption application. Once we receive a completed application it takes a few days of processing time. Applicants will be contacted and made aware the status of their application. Approved applicants will be scheduled to come and meet the pet they applied for. If all goes well with the meeting, the adopter we be able to take the lucky pet home!
